Why Lord? Why Is Israel and the Jews Treated Differently?

“Behold, I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that causes reeling to all the peoples around; and when the siege is against Jerusalem, it will also be against Judah. It will come about in that day that I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who lift it will be severely injured, And all the nations of the earth will be gathered against it” (Zechariah 12:2-3).

Hey Gang:  David Harris of the Huffington Post and The Times of Israel recently penned an information piece that he titled “Ten Ways Israel is Treated Differently.’  He began his article by stating how very appalling is it to see Israel treated with totally different standards than other countries in the International system.  He stated that Israel deserves scrutiny, but only in the same measure that all nations are scrutinized by their peers, nothing more and nothing less.

His first point of contention, Israel is the only UN Member State whose very right to exist is under constant challenge.  Notwithstanding the fact that Israel has been inhabited by Jews since the land was given to Abraham through covenant from God as recorded in the most read book in the world, the Bible. That Israel was recreated by recommendations of the UN and has been a member of the world body since 1949; but yet there is an every growing swell of nations denying Israel’s very political legitimacy.

At the same time there are nations that have very questionable legitimacy and nations that were created through brute force, occupation and map making.  Why then, is it open hunting season only ln Israel?  Could it be because it is the only Jewish majority country and Satan has vowed that it will not be here for Christ to return too?

Second. Israel is the only UN Member State that’s been targeted for annihilation by another UN Member State.   There is a constant flow of hate-filled rhetoric from Iran-funded proxies in Lebanon and Gaza that have constantly called for Israel to be removed from the map.  There have even been maps hung in the UN building that have eliminated Israel from their world maps.

Third, Israel is the nation whose capital city, Jerusalem, is not recognized by other nations.  Imagine if the United States declared capital, Washington D.C., was no longer recognized as its capital city and all of the visiting dignitaries would have to live in Virginia and travel to Washington to conduct their business.  Such is the case in Israel.  No nation, but those who wish to see Israel totally annihilated, question that the Western half of Jerusalem where the prime minister’s office, the Knesset (Parliament), and Ministry of foreign Affairs are located belongs to the Jews.

Point Four: In point four we learn the same is true in how the UN treats refugees.  There are two agencies in the UN that deals with refugees, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), with focus on the world’s refugee populations, except for one which is covered by the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine (UNRWA).

The UNHCR seeks to resettle refugees; UNRWA does not.  When the past director of the UNHCR suggested they resettle p to 250,000 refugees in nearby Arab countries, those counties were enraged and refused, leading to him being sent out to pasture.  No future recommendations have been made that this might be an Arab problem and they have land and resources to solve it.  But then again they would lose a very powerful pity party point for world media.

Point five:   Israel is the only country that has on all its major wars for survival and self-defense, yet is confronted by defeated adversaries who have insisted on dictating the terms of peace. The old saying “to the Victors goes the spoil” does not apply where Israel is concerned.  This is not just an Arab issue but a world issue.  World boundaries have been vastly changed by stronger nations taking and governing weaker nations.

We will look at the other five ways that Israel is treated differently than any other nation is the world on Thurs Oct 24.

Blessings,
